(Just minutes later the elevator to ECKS' office slides open and he exits. He walks to the closet in the room where he keeps his suit. He takes it off the hanger and sets it on his desk. He then removes a pair of gloves and sets them down beside the suit. He stops to think about the coming fight and what exactly it is he has to do. He crosses his arms as he wonders whether or not he'll be prepared to do what he knows has to be done to ensure victory. He doesn't even hear the elevator open a second time. Ana steps into the room and walks up beside him. She places a hand on his shoulder. He says nothing.)

(Rather than keeping quiet, she decides to make the move herself.)
Ana: "Nice speech back there. The team really believed you. But I know you better than them and I'm not so sure I believe you. I'm not even sure if you believe yourself."
(She pauses for just a second. He still doesn't answer.)
Ana: "I just wanna make sure that you are truly prepared to do what needs to be done. We'll follow you to the end of the Earth, Chris, but when we get there, will you be willing to do whatever it takes to bring us home. We all know that this fight can only end one way. You better know that, too. Or else we've already lost."

(ECKS closes his eyes and sighs heavily. Then slowly opens them again and turns to face Ana.)
ECKS: "I know what I have to do. I hoped it wouldn't come to this but it has. Don't worry, darlin'. I'll do what needs to be done. I'll bring us all back home."
(The two of them share a short embrace. If for no other reason just to comfort one another. For they know that the next few hours will be the hardest they've faced together since that night, five years ago. But this time, the ending will be different. This time... someone will die.)
