Gaining Ground

[ECKS]

(From a road near overlooking the air port in Phoenix ECKS realizes he's managed to catch up to Christina and the man holding her. But things have changed, he also sees another man with Liz getting into the hummer with them.)

ECKS: What's she doing here? I was gonna make my move here, now I gotta keep a step back so I won't be seen. I'll follow them 'till they get wherever it is they're goin.' Long as they think I'm back home at the mansion I can get the jump on them anywhere anyway.

(ECKS stands by and watches as the hummer leaves the airport and moves on down the road, then starts tailing them again. He remains close enough to them that the scent trail stays fresh but at the same time far enough back that he hopefully won't be seen.)

[ECKS]

(A sudden jolt hits ECKS' mind and it causes him to nearly lose control of the bike. A car passes by honking at him. He hears Liz's voice telling him to back away. He quickly shakes it off and regains control. Again he talks to himself.)

ECKS: Sorry, darlin. Not this time. I'm not leaving either one of you alone with these guys. You don't know Smith like I do. I know what he's capable of and if I get the chance to end all of this by killin' him before he can use either of you to raise this all-powerful mutant, then it's a chance I have to take. No matter what the cost is.

(He revs the bike and goes a little faster to keep up the pace with the hummer.)

ECKS: I just know that now I gotta be a little more cautious when I finally make my move.

(He continues his pursuit, still at a distance. Unaware that he has been detected.)
