Didn't see this coming...

[Oracle]

(Christina Collins walks down the street, heading home to her small apartment just five blocks away. She's holding her gym bag after coming from gymnastics practice. She puts her hand on the back of her neck and rolls her head in a circle to help ease its stiffness. Then Rebecca, -a rival from school- walking behind her with shopping bags in hand, pushes her out of the way as she walks past her.)

Rebecca: Excuse me... but I'm walking. So watch where I'm going.

(After brushing against Rebecca, Christina gasps as her eyes begin to glow purple. She sees Rebecca crossing the street as a car runs a red light and hits her, killing her. Christina's eyes return to their natural sky blue as she takes a deep breath. Rebecca turns back around.)

Rebecca: What's your problem? Lil Miss Tough Girl can't handle a little nudge?

Christina: (to herself) This can't be happening. No, I... I got rid of them.

(Rebecca rolls her eyes and prepares to cross the street. Christina notices this and recalls the memory of her father. She can't let it happen, no matter how horrible she was. Christina runs and grabs Rebecca's arm pulling her back on the sidewalk.)

Christina: Listen to me. Don't cross the street.

Rebecca: Let go of me, you b!tch.

(Rebecca pulls away and begins to cross the street. Christina notices a car that is speeding towards the intersection. She holds out her hand as she prepares to scream at Rebecca to look out when Rebecca is flung through the air and lands on the other side of the street. Rebecca has time to see her shopping bags being ran over by the speeding car. She stares at Christina and starts to scream.)

Rebecca: You're one of them! One of those mutants! I knew something was weird about you. And you used your powers against me! You were trying to attack me! Someone help!

(Christina doesn't understand what has just happened. She didn't have that power. She didn't have it when she took the cure. Her attention was distracted as Rebecca started screaming for help. Christina quickly pick up her bag and ran off.)

[Oracle]

(When Christina arrived back home to her apartment, she locked her door with the deadbolt as well as the chain. She nows sits on her couch, drinking coffee to help with her nerves while watching the evening news.)

Newscaster: And in other news, a mutant attack was reported today in Manhattan. A girl was crossing the street when she stated a female mutant deliberately used her powers in an attempt to harm her by a speeding car. Luckily, the girl made it to the other side of the street, but by the time police had arrived, the mutant had already disappeared. Police have been given a name to lead by; however, they are not releasing any information until they have this woman in custody.

(Christina lowers her head as sighs, silently cursing Rebecca. She grabs her cup sitting on the table to take a sip when she gasps and her eyes glow purple. She sees the cup she is holding will fall down, break as it hits the floor, spilling coffee all over the floor. Her eyes return to normal and as she takes a deep breath, she loses the grip on her cup causing it to fall, break, and spill coffee on the floor. Christina picks her legs up, places her arms around them, and lowers her head to rest on her knees.)

Christina: I don't understand... I took the cure... I got rid of them. Why are they back?

(Her powers always reminded her of her father. She saw what was going to happen. She could have saved him, but she didn't. She was being too stubborn to admit what was wrong. She couldn't even admit it to that man that came visit her after the funeral. Christina hadn't thought about him in a long time. That man in the wheelchair.)

Christina: What was his name again? Professor X or something? *sighs* Maybe he knew what he was talking about.

[Oracle]

(Christina sits on the couch, trying to decide what to do next. It was Cleveland all over. Once everyone had knew about her, they kept looking at her funny... even after she had taken the cure. She had to leave, to get away from all the stares and whispers behind her back. Now the same thing was happening again. Christina made up her mind. She would have to do the same thing she did last time.)

(She gets off the couch and walks into the bedroom. She grabs her gym bag in the corner and empties it onto the bed. She keeps the tape she uses to wrap her hands as well as one or two leotards in the bag. She starts to pack some clothes from her closet. She also grabs her secret stash of money, about $500 and one picture that sat on her nightstand. It was the picture of Christina and her father when she won a gymnastics competition. She stares at the picture for a while, but then quickly remembers that she doesn't want to hang on touching the frame for too long. She places it on top of her clothes and zips the bag shut.)

(She grabs a hooded jacket before leaving the room. As she nears the door, a knock is heard. She looks through the hole to see two policemen waiting on the other side. She hurries back into the bedroom and closes the door. She opens the window which leads to the fire escape. She climbs out and walks on the staircase. From the alleyway, she can see the lights of the police car flashing from down the street. She climbs up the staircase to get to the roof. As she climbs she can hear the police breaking down the door to her apartment. When she gets to the roof, she walks to the other side to see the apartment building next to hers has its fire escape on the wall facing her. Christina gets an idea.)

Christina: Crazy. But it will work.

(She first throws her gym bag as far as she can, and it lands on the opposite building's roof. Then she takes a few steps back and takes a deep breath. She begins to run as fast as she could. Before she nears the edge, she does a round-off back handspring and then into a flip off the edge. In the air she quickly twists herself around and reaches out to grab the handrail of the fire escape. She dangles for a few minutes before pulling herself up. She climbs to the top and grabs her bag. She walks to the roof access door and hides behind it as she sees the police on the roof of her apartment building. Just then the door Christina is hiding behind opens as a man walks out on the roof to smoke a cigarette. While the door is open, Christina sneaks through the door so the police cannot see her. She climbs down the stairs. As she exits the building, she zips her jacket and pulls the hood over her head. She takes one final glance at the scene in front of her building before she walks off in the opposite direction, keeping her hands in her pockets and hunching forward.)
