(He was rushing down the hallway, bowling over his colleagues. It was obvious that the news he beared could not wait. Coming to a stairwell, he stopped to take a breath.)
Soldier: "....top floor......secon on the left....man...."
(He gathered his breath, and then started up the stairs with renewed vigor. Upon reaching the top flight, he paused again briefly, to adjust his uniform and started walking toward the door. Dallas Smith read the placard on the door.)
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
(A commanding voice bade him to enter. He entered the dimly lit room, to find Weapon X II Program director and CEO, Dallas Smith, sitting in his office chair and turned toward the fireplace behind him.)
Soldier: "Sir, we've received reports from our scouts that the Mutant ECKS has just crossed the border into Canada. I have a team on standby, awaiting your command to intercept."
(Dallas turned the chair around and glared deep into the soldiers eyes, intimidating him greatly. The soldier winced as if he had been cut.)
Dallas: "Tell your team to stand by. I have a special Operative to handle this matter." He glanced at the corner of the room. "Return to your station, and keep ECKS in your sights. I don't want to lose him. Let me know when he arrives."
Soldier: "Arrives, sir? You mean you know he's......."
Dallas: "I said return to your station. The order will not be issued again. I have important business."
Soldier: "Yes sir."
The soldier gave his best salute, then turned and exited the room. When the door shut, Dallas stood up and turned toward the window. It was raining something fierce outside. He walked toward the armoire at the side of the room and poured a glass of vodka. As he was making the drink a large shadow moved out of the corner of the room and sat in one of chairs in front of the desk.
Dallas: "I hope your ready for this, Mass. We want him alive, and try not to destroy the entire facility, I've read your rap sheet.
Mass grinned with the compliment. His long dark hair covered his face. He gazed into the fireplace. The lightning was reflected on his steel skin, and with each strike it sent funny glares about the room
Mass: "You just remember one thing man, my money. I'll get your little failed experiment, but I ain't guaranteein nothin after that. If this place falls to tha ground, hey no skin off my teeth. Won't hurt me none."
Dallas: "May i remind you that if this pla-"
Mass: "You ain't gotta remind me of anything human," he growled, "I know tha deal. Like I said, I'll get him, you just make sure that check has all the zeroes it's supposed to."
Mass got up and walked to the door. When he opened it, he cast one last glance at Dallas. Electricity swirled about in his eye.
Mass: "Don't worry 'bout nothin. I've been lookin forward to a tussel with this chump. When I'm done with him, he'll beg you to take him away from me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA....."
He slammed the door, and walked off down the hallway, to await the arrival of their "guest."
