Finding the Truth

[ECKS]

(Still unconscious and shackled, the guards take ECKS into a small room. Then leave him there by himself. The close the door behind themselves, a very heavy lock can be heard clicking into place after the door closes. ECKS lays there, motionless. Suddenly, ECKS' eyes open slightly as he senses a second presence in the room. He can sense a person walking toward him. He waits until he feels the person right next to him then goes to strike. With an animal like growl he extracts his claws and nearly plunges them into a woman, but something stops him. Slowly his guard is let down and his claws retrieve into his forearms, he eye's widen as if he'd seen a ghost.)

ECKS: "But... I don't understand... I saw you. I saw you die, this can't be real."

Ana: "Shhhhh. You have to be quiet. There are two guards right outside your door. If they realize I'm here they'll lock us both up."

ECKS: (in a whisper)"You remember me?"

Ana: "I remember everything. I pretended not to remember, I Had to, so they wouldn't lock me up. My ability helped me to block the mind controlling chip they placed in my brain."

ECKS: "Mind controlling chip?"

Ana: "That's how they control their creations, like you. You have one but you blocked out part of it, but in doing so it took your memory away. Most of it."

ECKS: "So you're not a prisoner? How did you get in here?"

(Ana points upward to an open vent she used to break into the cell. ECKS sees it and smiles. Then the two long lost friends look back to each other. Slowly and gently ECKS reaches up and touches the side of her face. He pulls her close and the two share a kiss as if they'd never been separated. Both of them pull away, eyes still closed. The Ana quickly opens her eyes and gets back to business.)

Ana: "Not exactly. The only real reason I stayed here so long was to find you. I knew Smith was lying to me all along. But I had to find you before I just left or this would have all been a waste of time. Now that I have we need to get out of here."

ECKS: "I have a place we can hide, my bike isn't to far from here. But before I leave I have some unfinished business to take care of."

Ana: "Then what are we waitin' for?"

(Ana reaches down and touches the shackles that confine ECKS. In a matter of seconds they begin to glow. The glow gets brighter and brighter until finally they seem to turn to dust and fall to the ground in a pile. ECKS just watches in amazement then quickly gets to his feet.)

ECKS: "I'm gonna ask about that later."

(Moving to the door ECKS listens closely to the two guards on the other side, after getting a clear picture of their position in front of the door he extracts his claws and shoves them both through the door and into the guards. Both of them drop to the ground as ECKS cuts a hole in the door big enough for them to walk through. Ana follows close behind him. Within minutes he's followed the scent trail to Smith's office. With reckless abandon he kicks the door in, runs into the room and with both claws slices Smith's desk in half. The two pieces fall inward and ECKS walks through and faces Smith.)

ECKS: "Gimme one good reason why I shouldn't just kill you now?"

Smith: "Honestly, I can't think of anything good enough to keep you from killing me now that you have her back. Now that you have the truth right there in front of you."

ECKS: "Then why are we still talkin'? Let's get this over with."

Smith: "You won't kill me. Deep down inside you need me. But I on the other hand, I will kill you if I can't control you. You already know that I can stop your healing factor for a period of time. It's not permanent yet but it will be perfected. And when it is I'll come looking for you again."

ECKS: "Maybe you're right. I can't kill you. Even after all you've taken from me you're really just a pawn. Stryker was the real brains behind Weapon X. Without him you're nothing but a lackey. And I hope you do come lookin' for me, 'cause you hurt one hair of one of my students and we'll find out whether I can really kill you or not. Who knows, I might just surprise ya."

(ECKS walks over and grabs Smith by the shirt then lifts him out of his chair and brings him right to his face.)

ECKS: "Best thing you can do right now, is forget we exist and go about your life. The life I'm allowing you to keep livin.' Any part of that you havin' trouble with or am I clear?"

Smith: "Crystal."

ECKS: "Good."

(With that ECKS dishes out a vicious head-butt, the cracking sound of metal on bone is heard as Smith hits the floor. ECKS turns to Ana.)

ECKS: "I've had enough of 'This is Your Life' for one day, what do ya say we get the hell outta here?"

(Ana just smiles and the two of them walk out the door together.)

(Ana leads the way out of the base but something catches ECKS' eye just before walking back out the main door. A marker on a wall pointing the way to the "Control Room." He stops her and points to the marker.)

ECKS: "That wouldn't be the control room that powers the whole base would it?"

Ana: "Yeah it is actually. Why? What are you thinkin'?"

(Without a word ECKS goes down the hallway and through a door also marked Control Room. A few unarmed guards are sitting at desks watching monitors that are probably attached to camera's around the base. ECKS smirks at the guards and raises his right hand, extracting his claws. He motions to the guards.)

ECKS: "Two choices, walk out or be carried out."

(The guards quickly leave their posts and run from the room. ECKS extracts the claws in his left hand and then goes to work. His rage is unleashed as he destroys everything in the room, slashing monitors and computer towers, sparks fly everywhere as the devices are ripped to shreds. Breathing heavily he finds the main control breaker box. He grins as he stabs both sets of claws into then pulls them back out. Sparks fly as ECKS basically rips out the entire breaker box. Soon after the main lights cut off and all that's left are the few lights powered by the backup generator. With the room completely torn to shreds, pieces of scrap scattered all over the floor ECKS retracts his claws. He wipes a bit of the sweat from his forehead, a few strands of hair hang down to just above his eyebrows. After adjusting his jacket he walks back to Ana, who in turn grabs a clipboard from a nearby desk. She smiles as the clipboard begins to glow. Then at the same instant, she throws the charged clipboard into the center of the room and the two of them take off running. They get to the main door just before the clipboard hits the ground, then it drops and the whole room explodes. Never looking back ECKS and Ana head back out into the night.)

Ana: "Thank you for coming for me, Chris. I've waited years for this day. I must say it's everything... you're everything I could have expected. And more."

ECKS: "You don't need to thank me. I always knew I'd find you. I thought you were... you know. But even that never stopped me from lookin.' I just had to what really happened. And now that I gotcha back I ain't never lettin' you go again."

Ana: "Don't worry. I'll fill you in on everything you've been wanting to know for so long. I managed to pinch a disk from Smith's personal things that has everything he knew about you. But let's get out of here first."

ECKS: "My bike's still a ways from here. I figured we'd take one of these trucks to it."

(ECKS walks to one of the smaller cargo trucks and the two hop in. ECKS reaches under the steering wheel and rips out some cords, he uses a single claw to cut them then peels back the covering. After testing to get the right wires the truck's engine starts to turn over, he keeps trying and eventually gets it started then ties the two wires together. He puts the truck in gear and looks up to the closed gate. He looks over at Ana and raises an eyebrow. She smiles back, knowing exactly what he's thinking.)

Ana: "No problem."

(Reaching into her pocket she pulls out three throwing stars, she rolls the truck's window down and hangs out. She takes a second to charge the. Taking aim she throws the three stars all at once, each one connecting the door in an almost perfect triangle. A second after connecting the stars explode and blow the gate wide open. ECKS just smiles as he drives the truck out the gate and onto the hidden road that will lead him back to his bike and back to the mansion.)
