(After taking a second to rent a pair of ice skates for Ana, the pair take a seat on a bench next to the frozen lake. A few kids and some adults, probably parents, and even a few teens are already taking laps on the ice. Ana watches as she puts her skates on and laces them up. After finishing, she looks over to Kitty, who also has her skates on.)
Ana: "All right, show me how it's done."
(She motions toward the ice.)

(After lacing up her skates, Kitty stands up and leads Ana to the ice. Kitty skates slowly onto the ice, to get the feeling on being on the ice again. It shows people have been skating for a while for the ice is not as smooth, but it's still in good condition. Kitty only traveled a few feet and turned around to face Ana.)
Shadowcat: Okay. Just take it easy and step onto the ice. You start gliding right when you get on so be ready. It's kind of like rollerblading. Ever tried that?

Ana: "A little, I was pretty good. But it's been a while."
(Ana takes a deep breath and stands. She slowly walks toward the ice and stands at the edge. She exhales as she steps out onto the ice. She glides a little, her arms extend out to help her balance, she starts to slip a little but manages to catch herself as she joins Kitty.)
Ana: "This isn't so bad. I can see why you like this so much. Have you ever done this competitively or just for fun?"
(She asks as they start off slowly, gliding around the outer edge of the ice rink. Soon Ana seems to forget that the other people are their, she just focuses on her own skating as she tries to mimic Kitty's movement.)

Shadowcat: No, it was always just for fun. Although, I could have probably done a bit of competition if I had the proper training. I have some dancing experience too so that would help with the turns, jumps, and other stuff.
(Kitty quickly demonstates by skating a little further ahead. She skates on one leg and lifts the other leg behind her. She then places the leg back down and does a small turn around herself to face Ana again. She waits for Ana to catch up and then begins to skate alongside of her again.)
Shadowcat: But, that's probably it. All the other stuff you see on TV or in the Olympics calls for far more training and skill than I have at the moment.

(She wathes Kitty but decides not to mimic her this time. She figures that she's doing just fine with the beginner stuff for right now.)
Ana: "You're really good for a person who's never had any kind of formal training. I remember when I was younger I used to watch figure skating sometimes, of course back then I wanted to be a figure skater, along with so many other things. Funny the way things turned out. Now I'll probably never be any of those things. About the only thing I'm good for now is... well, you get the idea."
Ana: "Was there anything in particular that you wanted to be when you grew up?"
(She follows along the ice behind Kitty, keeping up quite nicely despite her inexperience.)

Shadowcat: Pretty much the same thing. I always loved figure skating as a kid. I also wanted to be a dancer too. But then I thought about becoming a teacher which is probably why I stayed with the X-Men. Being at the mansion, it was the only place where I could truly be myself... mutant and all.
(Kitty continues to skate around the rink by Ana's side.)

Ana: "Yeah, even though things are a lot better for people like us now, it's still hard for us to do anything truly normal. Pretty much the only real place where we can be ourselves is at the mansion, or you know places like it. But then again, there aren't very many places like it. To be honest, I always wanted to be an actress. I always wanted to some big dramatic movie, maybe even a few action movies, and definetly some horror movies. I love those. Nightmare on Elm St. was always my favorite, Freddy was so cool."
(Ana carefully does a small jump, nothing fancy, but almost slips on the landing, Kitty manages to catch her. She gets her balance back and continues.)
Ana: "Whew, that was a close one. Maybe I should just stick to the elementary stuff for now."

(After Kitty helps Ana get back on her feet, she lets out a little laugh.)
Shadowcat: For now, you're probably right. But the more you practice, the better you'll get. But hey... the actress thing is pretty cool. Maybe someday, when everything will be calm and the whole mutant discrimination is over with and we won't have to fight anymore, maybe then we all could pursue our original dreams. However I could still see all of us remaining at the mansion. But I have a feeling that it's just me being optimistic. It will probably be a while for that to happen, but then again you never know...

Liz: Kitty! Ana! Es ist imparative zat you both get to ze mansion at vonce. As soon as you get here, proceed straight to ze Briefing Room.

(Liz's words are still ringing in Kitty's ears, but she decides to ask questions later. Now it was important that she and Ana get back to the mansion.)
Shadowcat: Come on. We got to go.
(Kitty and Ana quicken their skating and make for the exit.)

Shadowcat: You're probably right. Let's try to get there as soon as possible.
(Kitty and Ana make it off the ice. They sit on the bench and quickly unties their ice skates and puts their shoes back on. After Ana returns her rental skates, they head to the parking lot, get inside the Escalade, and head back to the mansion.)
